Job Description and Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible for image of the centre. The main focus will be ensuring a high level of cleanliness for the exterior. Daily responsibilities include:
- Daily exterior building and grounds inspection
- Collect and remove all garbage from receptacles and property
- Maintaining and cleaning of all walkways, entranceways and parking lots
- Cleaning, painting and repair of signs, benches, etc.
- Clear and maintain drains in parking areas
- Maintain all utility rooms in a clean condition
- Monitor site contractors for Landscaping & Snow Removal
- Pot Hole patching as required
Other responsibilities include preventive/corrective maintenance on building equipment and related systems, responding to tenant service requests and the daily monitoring and control of various building systems (plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire and life safety systems). As well as assisting Marketing and Specialty Leasing departments with their promotions. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to phone /work order requests of tenants for general building repairs and respond accordingly
- HVAC maintenance and minor repair
- Use maintenance tools & equipment i.e.: power washer as per manufacturers recommended maintenance procedures
- Set-up for promotional displays
- Deliveries and pick-ups
- Ensures tenant and customer satisfaction
- Ensures maintenance schedules are maintained
- Security; point of contact for tenants and customers (follow policy on procedure including report writing)
Emergency standby duties are an integral part of this role (on call after hours for emergency and alarms). Flexible work hours to complete projects and on-call coverage after business hours are a requirement. The regular shift will be Tuesday – Saturday, off Sunday and Monday (shifts subject to rotation).

Experience Requirements
Post-secondary education, college or equivalent combined with a solid understanding and experience in building trades, along with related experience in a shopping centre or office building. Designated or ticketed in a trade(s) like HVAC, electrical, plumbing or obtained a designation like building engineer or building technician or received a diploma in Building Services or have taken numerous relevant building maintenance courses. Additional trades skills (carpentry, painting, drywall, electrical, plumbing) are required.
Other requirements include a demonstrated mechanical aptitude, well developed interpersonal and customer service skills, the ability to multitask and resolve problems independently and carry out duties with minimal supervision. Must be a team player.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of hand and power tools, power equipment operations and building cleaning and equipment use. Other requirements include basic computer skills, strong interpersonal and customer service skills. You will be a hands on and proactive individual, highly motivated and possess the ability to resolve problems independently and carry out duties under minimal supervision. Must have a valid Alberta's Drivers licence with an acceptable drivers' abstract.
